Waterfront House, built on the site where Sir Christopher Cockerel developed the Hovercraft, in Hythe on the edge of the New Forest, the property looks onto Southampton Water with its busy shipping lanes. 

 

The house is within a short walk of the towns many facilities including a good range of shops, places for a meal out and also the Victorian Pier. Hop on the little train for a nostalgic trip to the end of the pier where you can catch the ferry to Southampton.

 

Enjoy a vast array of attractions on the doorstep including the wonderful sights of oyster catchers, tall ships and sailing boats; or tear yourself away from this waterside haven and explore the wider area with its multitude of attractions.

The History

 

The house was purchased by Marie and Alex from the builder on completion in 1999 and its modern and airy atmosphere makes it well liked by many.

The property has been managed as a self catering unit by them since opening in 2000.  Many  guests have so appreciated the house and its surroundings that they frequently come back several times over. One lady and her aged mother did not miss a year since opening in 2000 until 2018 when mother sadly passed away.

In 2020 the business was transferred within the family to John, Rachel and Robert - all of whom have been involved over the years. We aim to maintain the same set of standards at the property so it continues to be available for your use for years to come.

 

We personally will continue to ensure the house is made ready for each new set of guests and in this way provide a good standard of cleanliness and order to the property.

The House

 

The house accommodates up to 5 people in comfortable surroundings with bed linen and towels provided. There is off road parking for two vehicles (other cars can be parked nearby) and at the rear there is an enclosed patio garden, adjacent to the waterfront.
